Approved curated showcase pages are indexable but missing from the sitemap. Include their detail URLs using a minimal database query that selects only IDs and requires both approved status and showcase placement. Community, private, pending, and rejected submissions remain excluded.

Related to #1153, which stays open for the remaining sitemap work.

AI review notes:
The predicate matches the existing curated showcase and detail-page indexing contract. No modification date is invented from moderation timestamps.

Ran the actual production query against an isolated local PostgreSQL database with every status/placement combination, then changed the approved curated row to private and verified its URL disappeared. Removing the placement predicate makes that test fail. The database was stopped afterward.

Normal commit hooks passed formatting, TypeScript, lint, unit, chat, and desktop checks. The new database test is opt-in and was run separately with SHOWCASE_SITEMAP_TEST_DATABASE_URL; ordinary test runs skip it. Deployed sitemap XML and detail-page verification are still pending.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • The sitemap now includes approved showcases that are available for public display, helping search engines discover them alongside library documentation and chart catalog pages.
    • Showcases that are not approved or are not designated for public display are excluded from the sitemap.

Walkthrough

The sitemap now includes /showcase/{id} paths for approved showcases with showcase placement. A database-backed integration test checks the status and placement filters.

Changes: Showcase sitemap

Layer / File(s) Summary
Query approved showcase entries
src/utils/showcase-sitemap.server.ts
getShowcaseSitemapEntries selects approved showcases with showcase placement and returns their /showcase/{id} paths. In development, it returns an empty array if the database is not configured.
Add showcase entries to the sitemap
src/utils/sitemap.ts, tests/showcase-sitemap.integration.test.ts
getSitemapEntries loads showcase entries alongside library and chart entries. The integration test checks that only approved showcases with showcase placement are included, and that changing the placement to private removes the entry.

Keep showcase database failures from taking down the sitemap.

If the showcase query rejects or the database is unavailable, this promise rejects Promise.all. The /sitemap.xml handler then fails instead of returning the existing library, blog, and chart URLs. Catch and log the showcase failure, then return an empty showcase list. The charts loader already uses a fallback for its own failure path. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

The new URLs check out. I want to keep source failures visible instead of publishing a sitemap that silently drops every showcase, so this should follow the failure-handling work in #1267.

AI review notes:
The exact 81e3454 preview sitemap contains 133 curated showcase detail URLs. All 133 preview pages return HTTP 200 with matching production canonicals. The preview host adds an X-Robots-Tag: noindex header, so that is not a production indexing pass. A separate check of all 133 existing production detail URLs passed HTTP status, canonical, noindex, and error-heading checks. The sitemap addition itself is still unmerged.

The review correctly identifies that a database rejection propagates through Promise.all. Returning an empty list would hide a source outage as a successful but incomplete sitemap, contrary to the completeness work in #1267. That PR supplies an explicit HTTP 503 response with no-store and Retry-After headers. Keep this PR behind #1267, then verify the combined database-failure and recovery path before merging. Required team review remains outstanding.
